“Every time I hit the red carpet, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a lot of makeup, but trust and believe honey, it’s caked!” After getting her start as a child model and backup dancer, actress and singer Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman truly became a household name in 2010 when she rose to fame as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up. Spending three years on the series, she went on to compete on the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars before trying her hand as the producer and star of another Disney Channel series, K.C. Undercover. Over the last two years, she’s made her feature film debut as Michelle “MJ” Jones in Marvel’s Spider Man: Homecoming and recently turned heads for her performance as Anne Wheeler in The Greatest Showman. Apart from her stellar career as an actress, Zendaya also launched her career as a singer and released hits like “Swag It Out” and “Watch Me” before signing on with Hollywood Records in 2012 and releasing her debut single, “Replay.” Today, her vocals are only part of her signature style as the 21-year-old singer and actress is recognized as one of the most talented and beautiful young stars in the industry.

SKINCARE

Cetaphil Eczema Calming Moisturizer ($14) Dr. Bronner’s Pure Peppermint Castile Soap ($16)
Kiehl’s Crème de Corps ($30) Mario Badescu Facial Spray ($7)
Mario Badescu Ceramide Eye Gel ($18) Mario Badescu Oil Free Moisturizer ($28)
ToGoSpa Under Eye Collagen Gel ($10) The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Oil ($27)

Describing her medicine cabinet as being filled with “mostly natural products, witch hazel, rose water, and vitamin E oil,” Zendaya’s medicine cabinet might seem fairly normal but she is just as daring with her hair, makeup, and beauty routine as she is on stage and on the silver screen. For the 21-year-old artist, good skin starts with excellent skincare, which is why she’s a huge fan of Kiehl’s Crème de Corps ($30) and says, “It’s the best freakin’ stuff in the world.”

Zendaya also relies on other products to revitalize and nourish her skin but some of her absolute favorites are Cetaphil Eczema Calming Moisturizer ($14) and Dr. Bronner’s Pure Peppermint Castile Soap ($16). She also uses ToGoSpa Under Eye Collagen Gel ($10) and The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Oil ($27) but has recently discovered the Mario Badescu line of products that include the Ceramide Eye Gel ($18), the Oil Free Moisturizer ($28), and the Facial Spray ($7) that gives her face a natural glow and “smells soooo good,” at least that’s what Zendaya says.

FOUNDATION, BRONZER & BLUSH

MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden ($28) MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle ($34)
Covergirl Katy Kat Pearl Eyeshadow and Highlighter ($9) Queen Collection CC Cream for Dark Skin ($8)
Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream Concealer ($7) Dior Forever Undercover 24-Hour Full Coverage Foundation ($52)
Covergirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar Vitamin Infused Balm ($7)

When she’s in a rush, Zendaya’s go-to trick is to mix her favorite moisturizer with a couple pumps of her favorite foundation to create a tinted moisturizer that lasts all day. However, when she has extra time on her hands, she isn’t afraid to go all out and likes to experiment with different looks. “I wear makeup because it’s fun; it’s like painting on my face,” she says. “That’s what is really cool about this whole new wave of makeup artistry… It’s about doing it for yourself and experimenting. People don’t wear makeup to impress people or because they’ll be seen in public. It’s more of a hobby now, just because it’s fun.”

With already gorgeous skin, Zendaya mixes a lot of different colors to create the right shades for her foundation. Two of her favorite products are MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden ($28) and MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle ($34). Other products that make her face look flawless are the Dior Forever Undercover 24-Hour Full Coverage Foundation ($52), the Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream Concealer ($7), the Covergirl Katy Kat Pearl Eyeshadow and Highlighter ($9), and the Queen Collection CC Cream for Dark Skin ($8).

Zendaya applies her foundation using a variety of Dior tools including the Backstage Blender Fluid Foundation Sponge ($20), the Backstage Buffing Brush ($53), the Foundation High Coverage Brush ($46), and the Concealer Brush No. 13 ($31). She also likes to use IT Cosmetics Brushes ($19.50-$48) as well as the Dior Blush Brush No. 16 ($55), which is ideal for blending in her favorite blush, a Covergirl balm called the Colorlicious Oh Sugar Vitamin Infused Balm ($7). We told you she’s all about experimenting!

EYES

Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil in Medium Brown ($21) Anastasia Clear Brow Gel ($22)
Covergirl Tru Naked Eyeshadow Pallet ($10) Burberry Eyeshadow Palette ($62)
Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner ($5) Covergirl The Super Sizers Fiber Mascara ($6)
Covergirl Total Tease Mascara ($8)

One of the biggest tips Zendaya lives by when it comes to makeup is to do her eyeshadow before she puts on her foundation; this ensures her foundation is flawless. She is also a big believer in mascara as one of the best go-to products to always have on hand since she can quickly enhance her eyes on the go without the need for a dozen different products.

When she has time, Zendaya pulls out all the stops and first defines her brows using the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil in Medium Brown ($21) and the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel ($22). She combs out her brows with the Dior Brow Brush No. 25 ($27). After priming her eyelids, she enjoys playing around with drugstore brand eyeshadows and often turns to her favorite product—the Covergirl Tru Naked Eyeshadow Pallet ($10). “I love experimenting with drugstore makeup,” she says. “You’d be surprised how good the eye shadows are.”

Using the Dior Eyeshadow Brush No. 21 ($34) to blend various colors to create the perfect look, Zendaya then applies the Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner ($5), which she smudges with the Dior Smudging Brush No. 23 ($48) for a smoky eye. Often applying false lashes using black or clear adhesive, Zendaya prefers to use Covergirl’s Super Sizers Fiber Mascara ($6) or the Covergirl Total Tease Mascara ($8) to finish up her eyes before adding a bronze shadow in the center of each eyelid for an added highlight and pop of color.

Dior Diorific Khol Powder Lipstick ($38) Dior Addict Lip Maximizer ($34)
Dior Rouge Lipstick ($34) Dior Couture Color Rouge Lipstick ($37)

Generally refusing to spend more than $50 on lipstick, Zendaya recently rediscovered her love for a red lip and uses Covergirl’s Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick ($8) to create a vibrant red pout. She also likes Covergirl’s Colorlicious Oh Sugar Vitamin Infused Balm ($7) for a quick wash of color and splurges on Dior products like the Addict Lacquer Stick ($37), the Addict Lip Tattoo Long-Wearing Color Tint ($31), the Diorific Khol Powder Lipstick ($38), the Addict Lip Maximizer ($34), the Rouge Lipstick ($34) and the Couture Color Rouge Lipstick ($37).

Learning plenty of hard lessons after a few makeup artists failed horribly and made her orange, Zendaya takes her beauty routine in her own hands and, as a result, is often described as a beauty chameleon who finds inspiration from other artists and the ideas floating around in her head. “If you’re asking for answers, they don’t exist,” she says. “Beauty has no definition, and if you do create a definition for yourself as you grow older, it’s ever-changing. It’ll be very different from when you’re my age and you’re 18 years old to when you’re 22 and when you’re 30. Take your time.” We can’t wait to see where Zendaya’s makeup journey takes her in the years to come!
