“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. I shake it off, I shake it off…” Taylor Swift took the music scene by storm in the new millennium when she became the youngest artist to ever sign with Big Machine Records. Releasing her self-titled debut album in 2006, Swift captured the hearts of millions of teenage girls thanks to hit singles like “Our Song,” “Love Story,” and “You Belong with Me.” Her second album, Fearless, won four Grammy Awards with the last decade seeing similar results as Swift established herself as the top pop and country artist in the industry with record-setting albums like Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. Along the way, the 28-year-old songstress has also established herself as one of the most powerful and influential women in the world as well as a beauty icon and the face of brands like Covergirl and Elizabeth Arden. So, what does the 10-time Grammy Award winner’s beauty routine look like with makeup artist Lorrie Turk at the helm? Let’s take a look!

SKINCARE

Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer ($32) The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter ($25)
Nourish Daily Moisturizer by Katie Somerville ($20)

Crediting her mother with introducing her to makeup as a child, Swift learned the importance of caring for and protecting her milky skin and has a solid skincare routine that includes everything from a variety of moisturizers to high SPF sunblock. Apart from wearing sunscreen every time she steps outside, Swift’s favorite skincare products include Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer ($32), which gives her face a pop of color while moisturizing and protecting her skin from the sun’s harmful rays. She also loves The Body Shop’s Coconut Body Butter ($25), which smells like a tropical beach, as well as Katie Somerville’s Nourish Daily Moisturizer ($20).

MOISTURIZER, FOUNDATION, BRONZER & BLUSH

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation #213 ($67) It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye “Light” ($24)
Makeup Studio Translucent Powder #1 ($10) MAC Fix Prep + Prime Fix + ($26)
MAC Studio Tech NW 20 ($36) Covergirl Cheekers Bronzer ($5)
MAC Blush in Pinch O’ Peach ($24) NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow in Girl Talk ($6)

“I haven’t really had any beauty disasters!” Swift admits and doesn’t ever plan on it! When she isn’t wearing the Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer, her longtime makeup artist Lorrie Turk likes to use different full-coverage foundations depending on the event. Turk generally starts with a primer to ensure Swift’s makeup is flawless. Using the MAC Fix Prep + Prime Fix + ($26), she then applies the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation in #213 ($67) or the MAC Studio Tech NW 20 ($36) using a beauty blender sponge or a foundation brush to create an airbrush finish. To enhance and lighten under Swift’s eyes, Turk applies It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Light ($24) and sets the products and foundation with Makeup Studio Translucent Powder #1 ($10).

Swift’s signature milky skin is seemingly flawless, which makes it easy for Turk to add contour with the Covergirl Cheekers Bronzer ($5). Using the Covergirl Makeup Masters Blush Brush ($6), she adds a pop of color to Swift’s cheeks by lightly dusting them with MAC Blush in Pinch O’ Peach ($24) and the NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow in Girl Talk ($6).

Covergirl Lash Blast Clump Crusher Extensions Mascara Very Black ($9)

Swift’s everyday makeup essentials include brown eyeshadows, mascara, and eyeliner, the latter of which she discovered on a plane to Japan. “I had no makeup with me, so I went into the bathroom and I used a Sharpie to line my eyes,” Swift says. “From that point on I started using liquid liner because I realized it was obviously pretty easy for me to do. I definitely don’t recommend drawing on your eyes with a Sharpie, though.”

Turk defines Swift’s brows using Tarte Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe ($13) or one of three products from Anastasia Beverly Hills—the Brow Wiz in Taupe ($21), Brow Pomade in Taupe ($18), or Clear Brow Gel ($22). Depending on the event, Turk loves to play around with Swift’s eye makeup and is known for transforming the young songstress in her music videos whether it means playing Swift’s makeup down for a girl-next-door look or transforming her into a sultry vixen! Some of both Turk’s and Swift’s favorite products are the Covergirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows ($2.50) in Champagne, Tapestry Taupe, and Brown Smolder. Swift also likes ColourPop Liberty Super Shock Shadow ($5), NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Habanera ($36) and, for added glamour, NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow ($26).

Often opting for false lashes to create a more dramatic look, Turk applies POP Beauty Lashes in Icon using a dark or clear adhesive. She lines Swift’s eyes with Covergirl Line Exact Liquid Eyeliner in Very Black ($8) or, depending on the event and need, uses Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($23), Kat Von D Ink Liner ($20) or Sephora Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner ($12). For mascara, Swift loves Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara in Black ($7) and the Lash Blast Clump Crusher Extensions Mascara in Very Black ($9). Applying multiple coats of mascara helps Turk blend Swift’s natural lashes with the false lashes!

LIPS

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lip Color in Hot ($6) Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Sad Girl ($20)
Make Up for Ever Artist Rouge Crème Lipstick in Rose Wood ($22) NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita ($27)
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl ($27) Wet N Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Hot Red ($1)
Alima Pure Blackberry Lip Tint ($14) Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick ($32)

Although red lips (and winged eyeliner) are part of her signature style, Swift isn’t afraid to branch out and try new colors. She does, however, have a special trick for making her lipstick last longer—after applying the first coat of lipstick, she blots and applies translucent powder to a tissue, which she presses onto her lips before reapplying another coat of lipstick. As for her favorite shades, she loves Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lip Color in Hot ($6), Alima Pure Blackberry Lip Tint ($14), and even the Wet N Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Hot Red ($1). She also uses higher end products like Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Sad Girl ($20), Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Crème Lipstick in Rose Wood ($22), NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita or Dragon Girl ($27), and Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick ($32).

Often using her lyrics to share her own heartache and life experience with her fans (think “Shake It Off,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”), Swift encourages young women to embrace their natural beauty and stop comparing themselves to others. “Unique and different is the next generation of beautiful,” she says. Swift, who is undeniably unique and beautifully different, walks the walk as a 28-year-old, award-winning singer and songwriter who, apart from her incredible list of awards and accolades, is ranked as one of the top earning women in the music industry… and to think she’s not yet 30 years old!
